Hyperkalemia before calcium bolus ECG (Example 4-1)

ECG Findings:

1. Sinus Tachycardia

2. First Degree AV Block

3. Left Bundle Branch Block

2. Hyperkalemia

Note the time stamp in the lower right corner of the ECG. Calcium is given to reverse the electrical effects of hyperkalemia (although it does not lower the potassium level). Click here to see the ECG of the same person only 2 minutes after calcium is given.
