Raisinghani Sign

Raisinghani sign (a.k.a. pseudodyskinesis) is an echocardiographic finding of dyskinetic motion of the inferoseptal and inferobasilar segments that can occur from the diaphragm compressing the heart.

This is due to increased abdominal pressures in disease states such as liver failure with ascites or hepatomegaly. Raisinghani sign can also occur during the third trimester in pregnancy.

There is no clinical implication of this finding, however it must be distinguished from pathologic wall motion abnormalities that indicated myocardial ischemia or infarction. The dyskinetic segments in Raisinghani sign should still thicken during systole and are not thinned as seen after myocardial infarction.
