Mexiletine
Mexiletine is a class IB antiarrhythmic drug used in the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias, specifically ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation.
Mexiletine blocks cardiac sodium channels shortening the action potential and is available orally. Mexiletine is similar to lidocaine in side effects and toxicities (see lidocaine toxicity).
