Cardiac Cachexia
Cardiac cachexia is the weight loss and decrease in appetite that occurs during states of chronically low cardiac output and congestive heart failure.
This gives a poor prognosis independent of other factors. Cardiac cachexia is not extensively researched, however is thought to be from elevated inflammatory markers including tumor necrosis factor and other inflammatory cytokines. No treatment specific to this disorder is available.
