RACE-II Trial

Summary: Evaluated aggressive rate control in permanent atrial fibrillation (heart rate goal < 80 beats per minute) versus less aggressive rate control (heart rate goal < 110 beats per minute). There was no difference in the primary endpoint of death from cardiovascular causes, hospitalization for heart failure, stroke, systemic embolization, bleeding and life-threatening arrhythmic events in the two groups. There were fewer clinic visits in the less aggressive rate control group.
