Summary: Evaluated transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR or TAVI) versus standard surgical aortic valve replacement. The primary endpoint of all-cause mortality was the same in both groups. Symptoms and stroke risk the same. There was a decrease in mortality in a subgroup of patients who were not candidates for surgical intervention, but underwent TAVR.
