Summary: 24-hour urinary sodium excretion was related to urinary sodium/potassium in the entire group and the United States. In the group from the United States, a 2-standard deviation increase in 24-hour urinary sodium excretion (118.74 mmol/24 hours) was linked to increased systolic blood pressure of 3.73 mm Hg (95% CI, 2.45-5.01). The relationship between sodium and blood pressure persisted after controlling for factors. BMI weakened the relationship between sodium and blood pressure. A significant positive relationship between blood pressure and urinary sodium was seen in participants with normal weight or obesity.
