CARRESS-HF Trial

Summary: Evaluated venovenous ultrafiltration versus a diuretic based therapy in patients with decompensated heart failure. The primary endpoint of change in serum creatinine level and change in weight favored diuretic therapy. Ultrafiltration increased the creatinine at 96 hours with no significant difference in weight loss and was associated with increased adverse events.
