No specific treatment is required for premature ventricular contractions after an acute coronary syndrome, although if symptoms occur beta-blockers can be helpful.

The prophylactic administration of lidocaine to suppress premature ventricular contractions or prevent ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation is not recommended. The CAST trial demonstrated increased mortality using encainide, flecainide and moricizine to suppress premature ventricular contractions after an acute coronary syndrome.
