Question 28/36
What is another name for “slow ventricular tachycardia” and what is the clinical implication?
Slow ventricular tachycardia is also known as an “idioventricular rhythm” and it is a common post-MI heart rhythm. An idioventricular rhythm is hemodynamically stable and does not cause any problems and thus no specific treatment is needed. This rhythm meets all of the Brugada Criteria for ventricular tachycardia except the heart rate is < 100 beats per minute thus the term “slow ventricular tachycardia” is commonly used.
