Question 25/28
What is another name for a small ventricular septal defect?
A small ventricular septal defect is termed “maladie de Roger” or Rogers’s disease after the initial describer in 1879 Henri Louis Roger, a pediatric cardiologist known as an expert in cardiac auscultation. The term “Bruit de Roger” or Roger’s murmur refers to a loud, holosystolic murmur of a small sized ventricular septal defect which creates quite a loud murmur frequently associated with a thrill.
