Regina Schaffer

Schaffer is a medical journalist. She received her BA in English and Journalism from Rowan University.

Schaffer has been in medical publishing since 2015. She is currently Senior Staff Writer for Healio Women's Health & OB/GYN. She has written for various medical specialties, including cardiology, endocrinology and nephrology. Before joining Healio, Schaffer wrote for several daily news outlets and monthly publications, including The Press of Atlantic City and New Jersey Monthly.

Schaffer received an APEX award for feature writing in 2023 for her coverage on health disparities in cardiology care and shares a 2023 APEX Grand Award for writing with the Healio Endocrinology team. Her work was also recognized by the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) competition in 2018 and she shares meeting coverage awards with the Healio Cardiology team. She has been awarded two New Jersey Press Association awards and a Philadelphia Press Association award, including for critical writing and feature writing.

When not covering medical news, she is happiest inside a dance studio.
