Man presents with chronic headaches and progressive vision loss

A 60-year-old Hispanic man presented to the emergency department for evaluation of worsening chronic headaches and vision loss in the right eye more than the left eye. He had headaches for many years and had been managed with oral steroids by an outside neurologist. He began having vision loss 1 year before presentation.

Man experiences new floaters and visual loss

A 64-year-old male patient was referred for evaluation of a possible vitreous hemorrhage in his right eye. He reported that 5 days before presentation he was having severe diarrhea with fevers and chills. His maximum temperature was 102°F. Two days after this illness began, he began to have new floaters in his right eye that progressively worsened to the point of severely decreased vision, accompanied by a mild eye ache. That same day he also began to have pain and swelling in his left wrist, for which he was wearing a wrist brace.

78-year-old woman presents with left upper lid droop, binocular diplopia

A 78-year-old woman came to the New England Eye Center 2 months after she first began to notice her left upper lid drooping. A few weeks later, she began to have binocular diplopia that was horizontal in nature and seemed to worsen when looking to the left and at distance. These symptoms were variable but did not seem to have progressed. She denied having any recent headaches or head trauma. The clarity of her vision was unchanged.

A 69-year-old woman presented to Tufts Medical Center 2 weeks after developing upper respiratory symptoms. During that time, she also had mild headaches, episodes of nausea and difficulty walking. She later developed acute-onset persistent binocular diplopia.
