Katrina Altersitz

Altersitz is a journalist and editor who has worked in medical journalism for more than 15 years. She received her Master of Journalism from the Phillip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English from Saint Joseph's University.

Altersitz spent the tenure of her career with Healio and its predecessors, starting as a staff reporter with Ocular Surgery News in 2006. She managed the Latin American and Indian editions of the publication, traveling the globe for our coverage. She worked in special projects, Healio Live and Vindico Medical Education over the course of the last decade before settling back in Editorial to manage Endocrine Today. Altersitz helped launch HCV Next, Healio Gastroenterology and Cell Therapy Next, winning awards for these unique launches as well as her profile writing. Today, she heads up the Editorial Features department, finding new ways to cultivate deep dives into more niche content across all Healio's specialties.

Additionally, Altersitz was instrumental in launching Healio Disruptive Innovators, first in gastroenterology and more recently in hematology/oncology. Both events honor the contributions physicians, organizations and patients make to their fields.

When not working, Altersitz can be found on the sidelines of soccer and lacrosse fields or in gymnastics bleachers as she watches her three daughters or home relaxing with her kids, husband and two dogs.
